I have a lot of old t-shirts in my closet so let’s find a good use for them by turning them into yarns.
You will need
- an old t-shirt
- scissor
- rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting board (optional)
Start by folding the t-shirt below the sleeves and cutting through it then cut out the seam on the bottom of the t-shirt as pictured below.
Now you have a piece of non-seam fabric, fold the fabric, leave space between each end about 1.5″.
Cut 1.5″ strip from the folded edge, cut it past the first edge but don’t cut all the way through the second one. it’s your choice to use scissor or rotary cutter.
Repeat this step through the whole fabric.
Put your hand through the uncut edge, it will be easy to cut the strips.
now we have left strips and right strips from the uncut area.
Start cutting from the edge to the first left strip.
Then cut from the right to the left strip.
Repeat this step until the last strip. Cut from the right strip to the edge.
Now we have one long strip of fabric. Next pull the strip to make it curl through the length it. Repeat this step again to make sure it curls up all the way.
The yarn is ready to use for knitting , crochet, sewing, etc. let your creativity run wild!!
