I’m going to the party but my dress is missing a flower pin. I went all over but could not find one that I like in my budget. I make it myself.
I start by searching for directions to make a fabric flower. Luckily I found one that I love, a fabric wild rose from YouTube by Emilie Lefler. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I tried to follow the instruction as much as I can as below and it come out perfectly. Love love love this wild rose very much!
Let’s gather the metrical.
Fabric – satin 100%polyester
Felt
Pin
Clip
Glue gun
Once you have all that you need, let get started.
1. Cut the fabric into 21 pieces with the size of 3.5″ by 2..5″
2. Fold the long size of the fabric in a half, on both sides from the folded side, at 3/4″ from the corner cut on a diagonal to the open side.
3. round of both open Conner. When it open the fold, it will be a bow shape. Repeat step 2 and 3 for the rest of the fabric pieces.
4. Now we will make the edges of each piece curl by using a flame from the candle. Place the edges of the fabric near the flame. The edges of the panel should be curled and slightly darker in color. This process is take time and needs practice. Different fabrics will have a different result. My first couple of panels was not good. After a few tries, you will get the hang of it. Keep in mind you dealing with the open flame and this fabric is flammable, please use with caution. This is not suitable for children.
5. After you have all panels ready, it is time to assemble. Cut the felt into a circle with 2″ diameter.
6. Using the glue gun, put a little dab of glue on the middle of a panel. Fold and pinch as below.
do the same for the remaining panels. Now each panel looks like a pedal.
7. Put a dab of glue on the edge of flat, put 6 pedals on the first layer.
8. Put the dab of glue between the panel on the first layer, attached the next 5 pedals for the second layer.
7. Attached the next 4 pedals for the third layer in the same manner.
8. Put the glue in the center of the flower, attached 3 Penels in the fourth layer,
9. Repeat step 8 with the last 3 panels but place them upright.
10. Glue the backend of the pin and the clip in the center of the back of the flower.
11. Cut another piece of felt and attach to secure the clip and pin as show below.
Now it’s done, so….. beautiful.
